This simple trick can totally eliminate hand numbness while cycle touring. With long hours in the saddle, my hands would sometimes get numb, especially while riding on rough roads. Although padded cycling gloves helped, they weren’t enough. Fortunately, I found an easy solution to this problem by double-wrapping my handlebars with handlebar tape. The increased diameter of the handlebars provided a larger contact area that helped to more evenly distributed the pressure points on my hands. Hand numbness is now is a thing of the past for me while bicycle touring.
